The American Bach Society, American Handel Society, Haydn Society of North America, Mozart Society of America, and Society for Eighteenth-Century Music invite you to attend the first session of the 2022-2023 season of Encounters with Eighteenth-Century Music: A Virtual Forum. This autumn marks the 250th anniversary of the composition and first storied performance of Haydn’s famous “Farewell” symphony, and is just over 30 years since the publication of James Webster’s influential monograph Haydn’s “Farewell” Symphony and the Idea of Classical Style. To honor these anniversaries, Poundie Burstein, Elaine Sisman, and Dean Sutcliffe will join Prof. Webster to offer reflections on and discuss the symphony and book. The session will be on the Zoom platform on Tuesday, October 18, 5:00-6:30pm (EDT).
All Encounters sessions are free but you must register to attend. You can register for this session at this link. (https://rit.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJAufuGgrj8qGdOlULsExRZ7Bb3SsK4IyRLa).
