We invite members and friends of the Mozart Society of America to submit proposals for short talks (15 minutes ) for the society’s Study Session during the 2025 meeting of the American Musicological Society in Minneapolis. It will take place Friday, November 7 from 12:30 to 2:30PM in Northstar Ballroom A at the conference hotel.
Suggested topic: Works and events connected with the year 1775 on their 250th anniversary. This could be about Mozart’s compositions from that year; view a list from the new KV to stimulate your thinking that includes many of the violin concertos, piano sonatas, La finta giardiniera, Il re pastore, and other works. Or you could tell us about your research on Mozart’s contemporaries in that year; events in the life of Mozart, his family, and his circle; or anything else you can connect to 1775, from biography to analytical or historical problems connected with pieces from then. Research in progress is welcome. Priority will be given to students and rising scholars, and to presentations on the suggested topic.
Please submit an abstract (100-150 words) and a brief professional bio (50-100 words) to dorian.bandy@mcgill.ca by October 15.
